Marriott’s fall MegaBonus promotion now has its registration page up, and it appears — to me, at least — to be offering a maximum of 25,000 points to all members. This promotion will run from September 15, 2014, through January 15, 2015. Registration must be done by November 15.
The offer is not very generous. Members receive double points on all paid stays, and only beginning with the second stay. With a base earning rate of 10 points per dollar, that means 20 points per dollar after the first stay. Because there is a cap of 25,000 points, that means you’ll hit it pretty quickly after spending $2,500.
I can’t say I’m very impressed. A free night costs between 6,000 and 70,000 points. Since they show a picture of the Eiffel Tower “within reach,” I took a look at the options in Paris. Only two properties are available for 25,000 Marriott Rewards points — and these are in the suburban towns of Saint Denis and Arcueil.
Loyalty Lobby offers a list of other bonus offers available to select members who have been targeted, as well as some instructions on how to request a change to a better offer. (You may not be successful, but it’s worth trying.) There are four other options available, including another 25K cap offer that provides 2,500 bonus points per stay — better for travelers who stay often but at cheap properties — and a 55K cap offer with a big payoff but only after you complete at least 20 nights.
