Tomorrow’s Daily Getaways offer from the U.S. Travel Association and American Express is the chance to buy Hilton HHonors points for as little as 0.495 cents each! This is close to what I normally value Hilton’s points, but there is the added benefit that you don’t have to do thousands of dollars worth of manufactured spend to accumulate them — it just comes in one pot up front. (Read my review of Hertz Gold Plus Rewards points for more background information Daily Getaways.)
Use these points to visit some one-of-a-kind destinations like the Conrad Koh Samui in Thailand, normally 95,000 points per night, or the Conrad Hong Kong, normally 80,000 points per night. Other, less prestigious hotels can be as few as 5,000 points per night. Check out Hilton’s award chart.
There are a range of package prices, and each one offers a 10% discount if you pay using your American Express card, which is what I assumed in the price quoted above. All packages are selling points at the same price, so there is no potential to buy more points for a greater discount.
100,000 Hilton HHonors points
- $550 (0.55 cents per point) // $495 with Amex (0.495 cents per point)
- Enough points for one night at any Hilton property in the world
150,000 Hilton HHonors points
- $825 (0.55 cents per point) // $742.50 with Amex (0.495 cents per point)
- Almost enough points for two nights at the Conrad Hong Kong
250,000 Hilton HHonors points
- $1,375 (0.55 cents per point) // $1,237.50 with Amex (0.495 cents per point)
- Enough points for four nights at the Conrad Hong Kong
If you have your eye on one of Hilton’s pricier hotels, even the largest package may only pay for two or three nights. But the benefit of points is that you can redeem them for any day of the week that has availability. Combine these bonus points with the two free nights offered by the Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Reserve Card for a longer stay. You’ll earn two free weekend night certificates after spending $2,500 in the first four months, plus complimentary Gold status as long as you hold the card.
