I’m working on finishing up my Vegas trip reports this week and want to take the time to remind you to match your Hyatt Gold Passport status to MGM’s M life program. All Gold Passport Diamond members receive M life Platinum — the second-highest tier below an invitation-only NOIR level. All Gold Passport Platinum members receive M life Gold — one level down but still two levels above the basic, entry-level tier. It’s a pretty good deal.
One of the quirky things about M life is that it’s loyalty program runs from October 1 through September 30. That means whatever status you have with Hyatt right now can be matched to M life through September 30, 2015. Along with the benefits of elite status, you can earn elite stay credit and Gold Passport points when you stay at participating MGM hotels in addition to whatever M life credits you would be entitled to.
I’ve previously described all the benefits of M life in another post because those casino loyalty programs can be a little more confusing, even to me! Pretty much my favorite benefit is just cutting lines everywhere I go.
As a Gold Passport Diamond member I was able to easily match my status to M life Platinum online. Just go to Hyatt’s website and click on the link to the landing page. You’ll be asked if you need to sign up for M life or already have an account. (If you don’t have status with Hyatt, know that one of the easiest ways to obtain it is with the Hyatt Credit Card, which comes with Gold Passport Platinum status, and therefore M life Gold status, for as long as you remain a cardholder.)
I already had an account, so it took me to the M life home page and prompted me to log in. It took a few seconds, thought about it, and then returned with a “success!” message to let me know my account had been updated for another year. My status was already visible at the top of the page.
What next? M life doesn’t mail out loyalty cards. Instead, you should go the M life Services desk on the casino floor the next time you’re in Las Vegas. They can print it out for you right there after seeing a photo ID. If you haven’t checked in yet, having that card with you might let you use the priority service line or even the VIP lounge to check in. Each hotel has different policies depending on its level of exclusivity.
Also don’t forget to check the M life website for more information about special offers. I regularly see 10% discounts or greater if I book my hotel room through mlife.com. Although MGM takes a 1-night deposit up front to hold the reservation, it can almost always be canceled and fully refunded if your plans change.
You can also check out various M life Moments — special experiences and behind-the-scenes activities at each property. I wrote earlier about my experience swimming with the dolphins at Mirage and was planning to write about diving with the sharks at Mandalay Bay today, but I can’t seem to find my photos. So that will have to wait a bit. Until then, check out some of the other cool activities!
