The Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport is a modern hotel located within walking distance of Frankfurt am Main International Airport (FRA). The hotel offers a clean, comfortable and most importantly, quiet space for transit passengers to rest and relax in between flights. If you have an overnight layover or an early morning flight to catch, the Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport can be a great alternative to wandering the airport terminal at night (and at a very reasonable price point).
The Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport is situated inside “The Squaire” office complex, directly above the Frankfurt Airport high-speed rail/regional train station. The Squaire provides a covered walkway from the main terminal of Frankfurt Airport to the Hilton Garden Inn and to the numerous shops and restaurants located nearby. The hotel is located outside of the airport so you will need to clear immigration and/or security to get to/from the hotel.
From the main entrance/exit of terminal 1, just follow the signs to the Hilton Garden Inn. At a leisurely pace, the hotel will be about a 10-minute walk from the airport.
If you are departing Frankfurt Airport, the Squaire offers a convenient check-in area in the central corridor. Here, you can check-in for your flight, drop off your checked bags and obtain your boarding pass, all before reaching the chaos of the main terminal building. With your boarding pass in hand, you can now proceed directly to your departure terminal. Since I was in transit, I already had my boarding pass and didn’t use this check-in area. I’m not 100% positive but from what I could tell, this check-in area looked like it was for the AiRail and Lufthansa operated flights only.
On this trip, I had an overnight layover (14 hours) at Frankfurt and didn’t want to spend the night sleeping on an uncomfortable airport bench. The Hilton Honors rate was $89/night for a standard king room, which I thought was very reasonable. The standard room featured a “Garden Sleep System” bed, work desk with ergonomic chair and a small sitting area. The bed was actually really comfortable and provided the perfect amount of support and softness.
The work desk was fairly standard but the ergonomic chair was much appreciated. I really hate it when hotels provide decorative or non-supportive chairs, which cause back and neck pain after a couple hours of use.
The attached bathroom was on the smaller side and featured a single-sink, toilet, shower/tub combo and Peter Thomas Roth bath and body products.
Other room amenities included a 50-inch LCD television with a variety of both English and foreign language channels, a mini-fridge, hot water kettle with a selection of instant coffees and teas and an iron/ironing board. 220V electrical outlets were conveniently located by the work desk and on both sides of the king-size bed.
The Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport offers rooms with airport or skyline views. My room had an airport view and it was actually disappointing. The large windows let in plenty of natural lighting but unfortunately, did not provide any views of the ramp or runway. However, the soundproof windows were great in limiting outside noise and the blackout curtains were effective in blocking out the daylight.
Other hotel amenities included a business center, 24-hour fitness center with sauna and steam room, coin-operated laundry room, on-site convenience store and a full-service restaurant.
Overall, I really enjoyed my short stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport. The hotel was conveniently located next to the airport and the room was clean, modern and comfortable. It had all the amenities of a full-service hotel at a reasonable price-point and the easy access to local transportation couldn’t be beat. The room was soundproof and I didn’t hear any outside noise at all. The bed was comfortable and the amenities provided were appreciated.
