In December, JetBlue launched a great partnership with Amazon which allows you to earn 3 points per dollar spent on Amazon.com purchases.
The steps to sign up for this promotion are easy. Here is what you need to do:
1). Sign up for a JetBlue TrueBlue account, unless you already have one.
2). Sign up for an Amazon account, unless you already have one.
3). Once you’ve completed steps 1 and 2, click on this page to be taken to the TrueBlue points promotion page with Amazon. You will be prompted to the page with a unique link.
4). Click on your unique link.
5). Sign in to your True Blue account, which will automatically take you to Amazon.
6). Don’t Forget! Bookmark the page in step four, that is embedded in your JetBlue account
Critical Step: You MUST Use This Link Each Time You Shop in Order to Earn the Miles
After you fulfill steps 1-6 and have your accounts linked, you MUST click on the unique link each time you shop at Amazon in order for the points to accumulate from your purchases.
It’s no different than using Shop with Chase Ultimate Rewards that enables you to earn bonus points.
As a reminder, there are some excluded Amazon purchases, including:
- Products sold on a site linked to Amazon
- Products sold on fresh.amazon.com
- Restaurant takeouts
- Alcoholic beverage purchases
- Kindle products purchased as a subscription
- Free trial subscriptions
- Wireless plans through Amazon
- Apps and games purchased through Amazon Appstore for Android
The Points Will Post Within 6-8 Weeks of Purchase
Since this was introduced in December, many people on FlyerTalk were wondering when the points would post to their TrueBlue accounts. When I checked my account the other day, I saw that all of my purchases for the month of December were posted by early February.
As a rule of thumb, I suppose we can deduce from this that monthly expenditures on Amazon will post at the beginning of the following month at an accumulated rate (i.e., January purchases on Amazon will post the first week of March).
This is helpful to know moving forward if you plan to make some big expenditures with Amazon and also want to accrue miles on JetBlue. Additionally, the timeline should give you a barometer on how quickly these miles post in case you are saving up to use them for a trip and want to plan ahead.
Remember, certain cards like your American Express Platinum will earn 3X membership rewards per $1 spent as well, so essentially, this JetBlue offer is allowing you to legally double-dip on earnings that can be converted into frequent flier points. Granted, American Express membership rewards points convert at a rate of 5:4, which means that 250 Membership Rewards points = 200 TrueBlue Points.
Still, if you think about it, a $250 purchase on Amazon accrues 750 TrueBlue Points, plus 600 points transferable from Membership rewards, which ultimately accumulates 1,350 points overall. Comparatively, JetBlue points accrue 6 points per dollar spent, so a $250 ticket will amount you 1,500 points.
Not a bad way to accumulate extra miles through everyday spending and shopping.
