The Avianca Lounge at Miami International Airport is located airside in Concourse J. Opened in January of 2016, the relatively new and simply designed lounge is located upstairs, across from gate J4. The Avianca Lounge Miami is accessible by premium cabin passengers and Star Alliance Gold members traveling on any Star Alliance partner flight and Priority Pass members. The Avianca Lounge Miami is open 24 hours a day but access may be restricted during (unspecified) peak times.
Concourses H and J are connected airside so passengers departing from these two concourses will have easy access to the lounge. If you get here during a restricted peak time, there is another Priority Pass Lounge, The VIP Lounge Miami, located next door that you can use.
The 5600 square feet lounge is spacious and smartly designed with lots of usable spaces to rest, relax and be productive before your flight. The main seating area is located in the center of the lounge with a variety of seating from low armchairs and couches to a long bar table along the wall and windows.
The large windows let in a lot of natural lighting and provide views of the ramp outside.
The food stations are also located in the center of the lounge. Here, you’ll find an uninspiring but decent selection of both hot and cold food items. For breakfast, there was a selection of eggs, potatoes, sausages, sandwiches and other snacks.
For alcohol and drinks, there is a small selection of self-serve bottles of beers, wines and spirits, sodas and juices.
And a couple of espresso machines.
You can eat anywhere in the lounge but there is a dedicated dining room adjacent to the food stations with proper dining tables and a TV for entertainment.
If you need to get some work done, there is a great business center located in the back of the lounge with several workstations, desktop computers and a copier/printer/fax machine. If you need more table space, there are also tables and chairs to spread out and be productive.
Password protected WiFi is provided throughout the lounge but my one complaint about the Avianca Lounge is the lack of electrical outlets throughout the main seating area of the lounge. Restrooms are available inside the lounge but there are no shower rooms.
There is a relaxation room located next to the business center. The room is not enclosed so you will hear noise from the main seating area outside but the space is quieter than the rest of the lounge. Here, you’ll find some lounge chairs and ottomans to kick your feet up and close your eyes for a bit.
If you’re traveling with children, there is a dedicated family room to entertain them with some kid-friendly furniture and a TV with kid’s programming.
Avianca Lounge Miami overall thoughts
Overall, the Aviaca Lounge Miami is a great place to rest, relax and be productive before your flight and is a welcomed addition to the Priority Pass network. The lounge is new, modern and beautifully designed with lots of usable spaces. As a business traveler, I really appreciate the dedicated areas to work and be productive before my flight. The food was a little uninspiring but decent nonetheless and the employees did a good job of keeping the lounge clean and buffet items replenished.
