Marriott’s new 2020 Elevated Earning promotion was just announced and promises an extra 2,000 bonus points on every eligible stay. However, the points only start to roll in on the second stay, which means your first stay after registering will get no bonus. This has become common with other hotel promos, including Hyatt’s current double points promotion.
You must register for the promotion before your first stay in order to begin earning bonus points on your second stay. All stays must take place between March 17 and June 14, 2020. Registration must take place by May 31, 2020. Be sure to register now even if you’re not sure about your upcoming travel plans just in case. You wouldn’t want to miss the registration deadline and then book a trip later.
All hotels are participating in this promotion, and there’s no limit on how many bonus points you can earn. Obviously one-night stays will be most rewarding. Unfortunately reward stays are not eligible and will not earn bonus points.
Unfortunately Marriott points aren’t worth a ton, maybe 0.5 to 0.7 cents each, so you’re looking at a value of $10 to $14 per stay. That isn’t enough to persuade most people to book Marriott over a competing chain. It is, however, a small nudge if you’re looking at two similar properties and aren’t biased by status.
