The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government suspended passenger flights out of Dubai in order to limit the spread of coronavirus. Emirates grounded its fleet on March 25, 2020 due to the UAE order.
Resuming Limited Operations
The UAE will permit Emirates to begin a resumption of some flights beginning April 6, 2020.
Emirates said today:
“Over time, Emirates looks forward to the gradual resumption of passenger services in line with lifting of travel and operational restrictions, including assurance of health measures to safeguard our people and customers”.
More information about flight restoration have yet to be made.
Emirates To Receive Cash Infusion From Dubai
Like all other airlines, Emirates finds itself in a stark financial position. Aircraft are grounded and passengers aren’t flying. Emirates is not immune from the same cash crises that are affecting the other airlines around the globe. Many airlines can expect to burn through cash by the end of May without government intervention. The government of Dubai said: “it will support Emirates to go through the crisis and reach its goal of sitting on the throne of global aviation”.
