According to One Mile at a Time, Hilton Honors is promoting its relationship with American Express by offering 7,500 bonus Hilton Honors points on your next stay when you pay with your Amex Platinum Card. Amex has long offered its Platinum Cardmembers free SPG Gold status, but last year it also added Hilton Gold status (which I personally consider more useful). If you haven’t taken advantage of the complimentary status, now is your reminder!
In addition to bonus points on every stay, free WiFi, and a better room assignment, the major benefit of Hilton Gold status is complimentary breakfast. There are so many Hilton hotels around the world that I’ve made a point of always carrying a card that includes free Hilton Gold status. Other cards with this benefit include the Amex Hilton Surpass and the Citi Hilton Reserve cards.
To qualify for the 7,500 bonus points, you must:
- Register for the promotion
- Stay 2+ nights at almost any Hilton hotel between May 7 and August 7, 2017 (properties in mainland China are excluded)
- Pay with your Amex Platinum Card
Although I seem to meet all the requirements for this offer, I did not receive any communication. This could be because my current Hilton Honors status is not linked to my American Express Platinum Card. The terms of the offer specifically mention U.S. cardholders who have a Platinum Card, Business Platinum Card, or Corporate Platinum Card who have enrolled in complimentary Hilton Gold status through their Amex Platinum Card.
Fortunately the offer has a publicly accessible landing page to learn more. If you think you should be eligible, I recommend calling Amex to link your Platinum Card to your Hilton Honors account and confirming your eligibility with a Hilton representative before you register. (This is an offer promoted and fulfilled by Hilton, so Amex can’t confirm your eligibility.) Better to check before you book than try to dispute after the fact!
