The American Express Platinum card, which is already one of the best premium travel cards of its class, just got a little bit better. Yesterday, May 15th, American Express and Escape Lounges announced a new partnership that will give AMEX Platinum cardholders complimentary access to all US-based Escape lounges.
Currently, that means 3 additional lounges have been added to the already-impressive AMEX Platinum lounge benefits. Right now, Escape owns three US based lounges:
- Bradley Airport Lounge – Hartford, Connecticut
- MSP Airport Lounge – Minneapolis, Minnesota
- Oakland Airport Lounge – Oakland, California
Escape Lounges are usually $45 to enter, so this adds a good value for AMEX Platinum members who travel through these airports. Additionally, the partnership allows Platinum cardholders to arrive with up to 2 guests, who will also be given complimentary access.
To take advantage of these new lounges, all you’ll need to do is present your American Express Platinum card, your ID card, and proof of same-day travel. Guests will also need to show proof of same-day travel, but will not need to be Platinum cardholders.
Inside Escape lounges, you and guests will enjoy comfortable seating, complimentary snacks and drinks, and a relaxing environment. Full meal options are available in some lounges, for an additional fee.
Does the Addition of Escape Lounges Make Amex Platinum a Better Deal?
These three new lounges add on to the ever-growing list of lounges that are part of the American Express Global Lounge Collection, which currently consists of 1,000+ lounges in 120+ countries. This includes:
- The Centurion® lounge network
- The International American Express lounges
- Delta Sky Club®
- Priority Pass Select lounges
- Airspace Lounge
- And now, domestic Escape Airport Lounges
It’s great to see American Express continually improving upon the offerings of the Platinum card. While an additional 3 lounges isn’t exactly groundbreaking, these are high-value additions to an already valuable lounge collection – and just one more reason to consider being a Platinum cardholder.
