If you travel with kids or prefer to watch entertainment on your personal electronic device (PED), then the Airhook travel holder should be added to your travel bag. The Airhook is a simple, hands-free device holder that allows you to watch entertainment on your device from a more comfortable position. It reduces neck strain and provides a more stable platform for binge-watching your favorite TV shows, movies and other streaming content during flight.
The Airhook takes your device off the tray table and out of your hands and secures it to the seatback, tray table in front of you. And by doing so, it raises the viewing angle of your device to a more natural position and reduces neck strain from prolonged viewing. The Airhook uses elastic straps to hold your device securely to the tray table. The Airhook does NOT cause any damage to your device or to the seatback tray table nor does it interfere with any other passengers.
Without the Airhook, this is how the majority of us watch entertainment from our devices. It sucks and after an hour or so, our necks will start to hurt.
But with the Airhook, you can raise your device to a more natural viewing position and increase your seat space by folding your tray table away. The Airhook is compatible with most cell phones and tablets including iPhones, iPads, Samsung phones, tablets and other Android devices up to 8.5’’ tall. It even comes with a beverage cup holder and headphone hook to keep your cup and headphones in place when not in use.
The Airhook is small, compact and easy to use. It comes with a carrying case and can attach to most seatback tray tables. I’ve personally tested it on several airlines including American, Southwest, United and WOW air and it works as intended. No assembly is required other than the attachment for soda cans and water bottles.
The above photos were taken on a Southwest Boeing 737 from Los Angeles to Chicago. Here’s a photo from my recent WOW Air Airbus A330 flight. Can you imagine a 10 hour flight from Los Angeles to Iceland having to hold your iPad or straining your neck to watch a movie?
And of course it works with smaller devices as well. Here’s an iPhone 6 mounted to the Airhook.
Airhook Personal Electronic Device Holder Verdict
I personally love the Airhook but it’s not perfect. From my experience, I have identified three drawbacks to this product. First off, the Airhook attaches to your seatback tray table so you can’t use your tray table while using your Airhook. Secondly, the headphone hook feels a little flimsy. The hook is great for earbuds and other lightweight headphones but larger headphones such as my Bose QC25s feel less secure. And lastly, the beverage cup holder is great for small beverage cups but anything larger than a small cup (including soda cans and water bottles) will weigh down the Airhook and reduce it’s viewing angle.
Despite those drawbacks, the Airhook is still a great product and one that I always carry with me when traveling. For what it’s intended to be (a device holder), it works great. The other added functions just feel a little flimsy to me and I end up not using them. My headphones will be on my head so the hook is less of a problem but the inability to hold heavier soda cans and water bottles does lose it’s appeal a bit.
