National Car Rental runs a regular promotion that I’ve written about before, called “One Two Free” because you can earn a free rental after every two qualifying paid rentals. You must register before renting in order to participate. After that, each qualifying midsize rental of at least two consecutive days will earn 300 points. You’ll need 600 points to book a free rental day, and you can earn additional points through other offers.
Examples of other ways to earn points include a weekend or weeklong rental (100 points and 200 points, respectively), registering for email promotions (50 points), downloading the mobile app (25 points), and booking a rental through the mobile app (75 points). Complete details on earning points, including qualifying rentals, are available if you scroll down to the terms and conditions.
Anyone who regularly rents a car for business should be able to rack up the free rental days quickly for their next vacation. And even if you’re just an occasional renter, you might still earn one or two free rental days for a weekend getaway.
I’m particularly fond of renting with National Car Rental because of their Emerald Aisle, which is available to all customers when you sign up in advance for National’s Emerald Club and reserve a midsize car or larger. The value of the Emerald Aisle is that you can simply walk past the counter, choose a vehicle you like, and process the paperwork at the exit gate. (Of course, there are some locations that don’t have an Emerald Aisle due to space constraints.)
If you’re an Executive elite member, then you can go one step further and select a full-size car from the Emerald Aisle even if you just paid the midsize rate. You may not even need to do anything special to earn Executive status; it’s a complimentary benefit of the American Express Platinum Card.
So, take a look at your future rental needs as we head into the busy holiday travel season. One Two Free could be a good opportunity to quickly accumulate some free rental days when you need them most.
