The Al Mourjan Business Lounge at Doha Hamad International airport is perhaps one of the most breath-taking airport lounges in the world, where luxury meets serenity and architectural prowess. It is not a oneworld lounge where Sapphire members can gain access, so be mindful that it is reserved strictly for Qatar Airways’ Business and First class customers, as well as oneworld First and Business Class customers traveling out of Qatar (which is limited to British Airways, Sri Lankan, and Royal Jordanian).
I spent plenty of time in this lounge during a long layover on my outbound flight from Chicago to Delhi (via Doha) as well as on the return journey before my early morning departure from Doha back to Chicago. Both occasions provided two different periods of the day in which I could sample the amenities offered.
Arrival at NDIA
I had overnighted in Doha, and after my hotel transfer dropped me off at the airport, I was greeted by a stunning sunrise outside of the airport. It is worth noting that the airport facilities are absolutely gorgeous, even though so few people are actually commencing their journeys in Doha and most are transit customers.
I then made my way through security towards the airside portion of the terminal. The Al Mourjan lounge is located in a fairly central area of the main concourse.
The lounge is replete with quiet areas, a business center, shower facilities, a prayer room, a baggage room and a game room.
I used the business lounge as well as the shower areas, which were phenomenal. WiFi is speedy and there are many different places where one can “hide out” and get peaceful time to be able to be productive. I had to take a few work calls from this area, and was able to accomplish this with minimal distractions.
There are two dining areas, one which is a dining cafe and the other is a standard buffet. Per Matthew at Live and Let’s Fly, the cafe makes sandwiches to order.
Though custom-made food is a nice deal, the buffet selection at the lounge is mind-blowing. I daresay that I thought the food was tastier than at the Turkish Airlines CIP Lounge in Istanbul.
Everything is self-serve, open 24-hours and features cuisines from around the world. I was able to enjoy both American, Arabic, British, and Indian hot staple breakfast foods.
