While this wasn’t our first trip to Zürich, it was the first time we had a few days to spend some time. Is is a lovely place to visit, especially in the summer, although I’m who some may call cheap, the prices of most everything are a bit hard to swallow. We chose this location due to the great deal on the amazing Park Hyatt Zürich, but we enjoyed our time here and were happy to spend a few days here to wrap up our family trip to Europe.
Touring Lake Zürich by boat
The weather was rainy the day we arrived, but thankfully it was nice and clear for the second day we were in town. We decided to take a boat ride on Lake Zürich. The boat we took served both as a ferry for locals, but also as a sightseeing boat for tourists such as ourselves. We booked the short round trip on ZSG from Bürkliplatz which made several stops on the approximately 90 minute trip.

After the boat returned, we explored some more on foot. We walked along the lakefront, and eventually found a grocery store where we picked up some snacks. Then we joined the locals eating/drinking outside on the nice warm day.
Lake Zürich
We continued our walk away from the lake, along the river, and then on Bahnhofstrasse, the main shopping street. There was nice weather on the one full day we had in town. Even though there was a little rain for part of our stay, it didn’t really prevent us from doing anything we had planned.

Opernhaus Zürich (Zürich Opera House)
I think all 3 of us enjoyed our time here. This stop was odd in that the destination was chosen based solely on the hotel, which is certainly not typical. While expensive, Zürich is a great city, especially in the warmer months. We had an early start on the day we flew home. First, a short flight to Düsseldorf, then a longer flight home. Stay tuned for more from our trip.
