I have just returned from a great holiday in Bali. I’ll have lots more photos and info soon.
First I wanted to share a quick review of my long transit getting home from Bali.
The Laguna, Nusa Dua, Bali
It started with a taxi from The Laguna to the Denpasar airport. Then a flight to HKG.
From HKG, we then took the Airport Express to Kowloon station, then a shuttle bus to our hotel, the Hyatt Regency Tsim Sha Tsui. Had a quick overnight there.
Then we headed back to HKG for the long flight back to North America.
Side story of our transit back to HKG:
We were planning to take a taxi back to Kowloon station for the Airport Express, but the driver wanted the fare to get to the airport, so he made me a deal of HK$200 for the trip. The train would be $140 for 2 people, plus the taxi fare to the station. I figured a metered fare to HKG would likely be close to $300, so I went for it. He drove like a F1 driver. It took less than 30 minutes to get from the underground garage of the Hyatt to HKG. Crazy. He covered up the speedometer, but I’m guessing we were close to 100 mph at times.
Foggy morning in Hong Kong, before we reached our full speed.
Then we flew from HKG-YYZ. A great flight on Cathay Pacific, which I will discuss in detail later.
Our plane to YYZ
Unfortunately, upon arrival in Toronto, we landed at terminal 3, which required a train ride with our checked bags to Terminal 1 to catch our connecting flight. We then flew United to O’Hare. Even in the exit row, an Expressjet E145 was quite a step down from the First Class suite of our previous flights.
From O’Hare, we caught a bus back to Milwaukee, where I picked up my car and drove home.

Much more to come as soon as I can get things sorted out. First up the outbound flight, from O’Hare to Hong Kong, with unplanned stops in Anchorage and Haneda.
