This month, American Airlines has launched a new line of heritage amenity kits that honor the nine airlines that have combined over the years to make up the American Airlines of today. The amenity kits will be available for Transcontinental First class passenger and international passengers in Business class and will feature all-natural eco-friendly, boutique toiletry products from red flower cosmetics similar to those found in the US Airways Business class amenity kits pre-merger.
The nine kits will include themed from only a portion of the many airlines that make up the New American and the former US Airways:
- Air California in 1987
- Trans World Airlines (TWA) in 2001
- Allegheny – 1979
- Piedmont Airlines 1987
- American West 2005
- Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA) – 1986
- Reno Air in 1999
- US Airways in 2013
- American Airlines – Today
“”We have more than 100,000 employees, each with their own unique story, and these retro amenity kits are a small tribute to the heritage of their careers and their legacy carriers,” said Fernand Fernandez, American’s vice president – Global Marketing. “Customers will also identify with the historic logos and colors of the companies that now form the fabric of the modern-day American Airlines.”
In order to get your hands on one of these nifty new amenity kits, which double as a mini tablet cover you will have to fly on American Airlines Flagship First service between JFK and LAX or San Fran or on any long haul international business class route.
Per AA the new amenity kits will roll out in phases, three at a time, and will be available until January 2016. New Amenity kits will be introduced every three to four months in batches and three with the first three, TWA, Reno Air, and Piedmont already in circulation.

In addition, for the first time, American is rolling out amenity kits in Business Class on its transcontinental service between New York and Los Angeles and San Francisco, as well as Miami and Los Angeles. These kits contain a pair of socks and eye mask, a toothbrush and toothpaste, earplugs, and the trio of red flower products.
Overall I find this product enhancements to be fairly exciting! As I already have a closet full of Airline Amenity kits; I am looking forward to trying to collect as many of these amenity kits as possible to add to my collection! I just wish AA would provide the new kits on the transcon flights from San Diego as well! *Hint Hint*
