Summer transatlantic phantom award space still appears to be a problem on United’s website with the airline showing tons of award space on Aer Lingus to Dublin from Los Angeles and San Francisco in Business Class, but doesn’t confirm at booking. The award calendar and flight options look promising, and even allows you to book the space, but then after booking you recieve a dreaded warning about the space not being confirmed and emails start flowing from United informing you that the award space cannot be confirmed.
Tons of Business space from LAX – or you’d think!
If you are looking to travel on Aer Lingus using points, I would HIGHLY suggest you call the airlines and have them confirm the space before trying to book online. As I would hate for you to transfer your points to United from Chase or another source to find out that the flight you were going to book is actually not bookable.
This is a serious flaw with United.com and I hope that united does something to fix the issue immediately. I was booking my sister’s honeymoon trip for her via The Booking Guru Award Booking Service when I came across this issue. Thankfully we had an alternative option in mind, but it was inconvenient nevertheless!
