Alaska Airlines has announced new nonstop service in the Pacific Northwest beginning next month.
Alaska is not only bringing more service but they are increasing the number of E-175 jets for these routes. These regional jets feature first class, premium economy and economy seating with no middle seats. Alaska has also equipped the E-175 first class galley with ovens to serve hot meals in first class.
Bend and Redmond OR (RDM) Gets a Major Boost
The Bend/Redmond metro area in Central Oregon has been seeing a population increase for decades. Alaska has served the Redmond Airport with Q400 turboprop service and now there will be served with E-175 jets. Redmond will now have nonstop jet service starting January 7 between:
- San Francisco
- Los Angeles
- San Diego
Spokane Adding New Nonstops in January and March
Beginning on January 7th, Spokane will get two new, daily nonstops to Los Angeles. New twice-daily nonstop service to San Francisco begins on March 19th.
New Boise Service to Los Angeles (LAX)
New nonstop jet service begins twice-daily service on March 19th.
New Missoula (MSO) Service to Los Angeles (LAX)
Alaska will launch daily nonstop service to Los Angeles beginning on March 19th.
New San Francisco (SFO) to Anchorage (ANC) Service
Alaska will add a new daily nonstop on this route using Boeing 737 jets beginning April 21st.

- January 7 – Service between SFO and SNA increases from six to seven daily nonstops.
- January 7 – Service between SAN and MCO becomes daily.
- March 19 – Service between SFO and ORD increases to two daily nonstops.
- March 19 – Service between SAN and BOI and SAN to STS adds a second daily nonstop.
- March 19 – Service between SAN to SJC increases from four to six daily nonstops.
- May 21 – Service between SAN to BOS increases to two daily nonstops.
Final Thoughts
Alaska is increasing service not only on the major Pacific Northwest routes but is adding jet service to underserved airport pairings. Redmond (RDM) passengers will be able to fly to SFO, LAX and SAN without having to fly to PDX or SEA.
