Virgin America was just recognized by Travel + Leisure as being the Top Domestic Airline for the 10th year in a row. Such awards are old hat to both Virgin and its new corporate parent, Alaska Airlines, which was won similar recognition for its airline and its loyalty program from JD Power.
To celebrate, the carriers are having a “Decade of Awesome” sale today only until 11:59 PM, Pacific Time. Most fares are for travel between September 6 and November 8, though some are good until February 18. All fares can be booked by phone or online at alaskaair.com.
Example one-way fares include:
- $39 between Los Angeles and Las Vegas
- $79 between Seattle and Las Vegas
- $99 between San Diego and Austin
- $129 between San Francisco and Nashville
- $139 between San Francisco and Baltimore
- $149 between Los Angeles and Philadelphia
Fare sales come and go, and with limited inventory I’m always a little unsure if I’ll grab one of the better deals. However, these prices seem good to me. With the short notice I’m feeling hopeful.
Also keep in mind that Alaska Airlines (not Virgin America) allows all customers to cancel their ticket at least 60 days before departure and receive a full credit for use on another flight. So if you’re not so sure about your travel plans, you might still want to buy now as long as you think you might use that credit for another trip in the future.
