This British Airways first class (men’s) kit from my New York to London Heathrow flight a few months ago is one of my favorite kits. It’s a classy kit full of wonderful products. For our introductory post and description of the 5 category, 5 point rating scale, click here.
British Airways has a different kit (“washbags,” as they call them) for men and women. The men’s kit comes in a dark slate/charcoal color and is filled with products from The Refinery. The women’s kit comes in a pink color and is filled with Aromatherapy Associates products. These new kits replaced the Anya Hindmarch kits early last year.
Bag/Container – I seriously love this bag. It’s beautiful, conveys elegance and class and is much more practical than the old Anya Hindmarch bags. The slate/charcoal colored canvas bag has a leather bottom, British Airways leather logo on the front and “First” imprinted on the zipper pull. The material is soft yet sturdy and the kit is large enough to reuse for future travels. There are no individual pockets inside the main compartment but it is large enough to keep both travel size and full-size bottles of face and body products. The inside is lined with a vinyl material for easy cleanup after accidental spills. Score: 5
Product – For their men’s kit, British Airways has partnered with London based, grooming specialists, The Refinery. Each kit contains sample sizes of The Refinery branded revitalizer moisturizer, eye gel, lip balm, deodorant stick and shave gel. Their products are fantastic and have a nice clean masculine scent to them. My only wish is that the products were offered in a larger size as each bottle only lasted me a couple of days. Score: 4.5
Comfort items – The comfort items include an eye mask, socks, and ear plugs. The soft velour eye mask is very comfortable and has an adjustable strap for different head sizes. The unbranded socks and ear plugs do the trick but are nothing special. Score: 4.5
Miscellaneous items – The kit also includes a fold-out brush/comb, disposable razor, British Airways First branded pen, reusable toothbrush and travel size tube of Colgate toothpaste. Score: 5
Extras: In addition to the amenity kit, first class passengers also get a set of pajamas and slippers. The pajamas are lightweight and are one of my favorite airline pajamas. They are comfortable and have the “First” logo on the chest. Beware, the pajamas shrink like crazy so go up at least one (if not two) sizes. The slippers are nice and padded for comfort. Score: 5
Overall, this British Airways first class amenity kit is top notch and scores an almost perfect 4.7 in our ratings. This is definitely a kit that you will be reusing and the pajamas are great for lounging around the house in.
