The American Express Centurion Studio in Seattle is about to get a major upgrade which will nearly double the small lounge space, improve views, and lead to an upgraded experience. Last week The Points Guy revealed documents from the port which says the new lounge would include a full bar, shower and more seating. In addition, the view of the tarmac and Mount Rainier will return, as currently three of the four windows are blocked by the construction of a new major central terminal Delta Skyclub.
A tweet I sent last month before knowing about the expansion
The currently American Express Centurion Studio is about 3,100 square feet and the expansion should bring the studio to 4,500 square feet. The additional 1,400 square feet will still mean the Seattle lounge will remain the smallest lounge in the system, even smaller than New York LaGuardia’s lounge. Yet, don’t be discourage, because as I sit in the lounge this morning and talk with the lounge hosts, they have informed me that the new lounge should include improved food and beverage offerings as American Express plans to update their kitchen in the process to offer hot food similar to what is found at other lounges such as Las Vegas, Dallas, Miami, etc and build a full service bar!
Seattle’s current cold food offering – No hot food is availble:
The American Express Centurion Studio Seattle is a fantastic small lounge and the addition 1,400 square feet, full kitchen, and bar will be a huge improvement to the lounge. As a Seattle local, I feel somewhat cheated each time I stop by the lounge here in Seattle, knowing that other American Express lounges offer more amenities to local card holders. I am glad to see that American Express is stepping up their game and working with the Port to expand. Yet as one can imagine there’s a lot of red tape and American Express workers are banking on the expanded space with bar and hot food to be ready to serve patrons by summer of 2017! Keep you fingers crossed, because it could be sooner!
