Asiana Airlines is celebrating its 20th anniversary with Star Alliance with a flash sale to Asia! From now until May 19th, you can book roundtrip travel from the United States to several destinations in Asia for as low as $538, inclusive of all taxes and fees. This isn’t the best sale because it doesn’t include many destinations in Asia but if you can make the dates and destinations work, Asiana Airlines will be a great airline to fly across the Pacific.
Here are some sample dates and prices. Note: I was able to find fares cheaper than the advertised prices directly from Asiana’s website. For example, I was able to find Los Angeles to Manila for $557 and San Francisco to Hong Kong for $633. I didn’t look into all the destinations but it might be beneficial to play around with the different dates and destinations.
From Los Angeles, you can fly to:
- Delhi for $538
- Manila for $585
From San Francisco, you can fly to:
- Cebu for $604
- Hong Kong for $649
From New York, you can fly to:
- Manila for $617
- Ho Chi Minh City for $698
From Seattle, you can fly to:
- Guangzhou for $662
- Phnom Penh for $705
And from Chicago, you can fly to:
- Ho Chi Minh City for $592
- Guangzhou for $843
I can’t figure it out but these destinations seem a little random right? And it’s interesting that Seoul is not included in this sale at all. Asiana’s website is not the best but you can search via a calendar view to search for the lowest fares. Once you have selected your travel days, click through the various flights to find the cheapest combination of flights.
The ticketing period is from now until May 19th and the travel period is from August 18, 2017 to December 1, 2017. There are no minimum travel days but a maximum stay of 12 months. Fares are based on weekday departures. These prices are inclusive of all taxes, fees and fuel surcharges and include travel on Asiana Airlines operated flights only.
Some of these discounted fares will book into W class and others will book into T class. Asiana W class fares will earn 70% when credited to Asiana Club, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer and Turkish Airlines Miles and Smiles and 50% when credited to United MileagePlus. Asiana T class fares will earn 50% when credited to Asiana Club, Turkish Airlines Miles and Smiles and United MileagePlus and zero miles when credited to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer and Lufthansa Miles and More. And interestingly, wheretocredit.com states Asiana T class fares will earn 80% and W class fares will earn 70% when credited to Etihad Guest but I couldn’t verify that info. These fares are not eligible for upgrades.
Overall, this isn’t the best sale but if you can make the dates and destinations work, this Asiana Airlines sale is not a bad way to go. This sale isn’t as good as the Singapore Airlines sale but this sale will net you more miles when crediting to Untied MileagePlus. Asiana Airlines is a great airline with great amenities and Seoul Incheon is a great airport to transit through with free day tours, several Priority Pass Lounges and plenty of amenities to keep you entertained, fed and rested.
