Today only, Woot.com is selling the Viewsonic G-Tablet for only $284, after shipping. If you don’t already own an iPad, but you would like to dip your toe in the tablet waters, like myself, this is a great buy! You can find cheaper Android tablets out there, but this one is a top of the line performer with a dual-core nVidia Tegra chipset.
The one hiccup with this device is the default Android build is not very favorable, but there is a pretty big community of people who have ported more advanced distributions to it, and they look to perform VERY well. Additionally, there will likely be an unofficial Google Android Honeycomb build for it, once Google releases that source code.
Anyhow, I took the plunge – it was an impulse purchase for me! I’ll report back, but I’m sick of having to use my 15″ MacBook Pro for light work on a plane. I think this could fit the bill. There’s also an HDMI-out port on there so I might use it for watching movies at hotels.
