Daily Getaways is an annual promotion from the U.S. Travel Association intended to spur travel to and within the United States. I’ve purchased discounts on hotels and loyalty points several years in a row and was excited when they reached out to share details about this year’s promotions in advance. You may have already seen some other blogs share the discounts to be offered in percentages. I went one step further and asked for exact dollar amounts for every package to help you plan your strategy!
I’ll save the my commentary on the merits of each deal until next week. Meanwhile, let me know what you’re looking forward to most. I’ve usually found the deals on Hyatt and IHG points to be particularly worthwhile. Others like the Las Vegas vacation packages.

I was also able to speak to Laura Holmberg of the U.S. Travel Association to learn more about the Daily Getaways promotion. She was keen to promote the program as having more loyalty rewards points than ever, which have been a popular purchase in past years. However, I also asked what I thought were some tough questions.
For example, many people have become frustrated in recent years after being unable to obtain a Daily Getaways package because demand is so intense. One often needs to be at the computer ready to buy. But Laura said that many of the purchases are by repeat customers, suggesting that deals are generally available for those who want them. (If demand were so intense that customers were truly random, I wouldn’t expect anyone to get more than one deal.)
I also asked about why Daily Getaways doesn’t have any deals with airlines, especially since the focus this year is on buy points and airlines created the first frequent traveler rewards programs. The thing is, U.S. Travel Association only has a couple of airline members, and convincing them of the value that Daily Getaways offers has been a challenge. They’re hoping for more traction (soon) in future years.
