World of Hyatt has been adding dozens of new properties this year with the addition of new brands like Thompson Hotels and Alila as well as a partnership that includes many of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH). Altogether you can now earn World of Hyatt points at over 850 Hyatt properties, over 200 SLH properties, and 10 participating Las Vegas resorts in the MGM M life program.
The “Bonus Journeys” promotion for fall 2019 runs from September 9 through December 15. You must register for the promotion by October 31 and before your stay.
You’ll earn triple points on the nearly 350 Hyatt Place hotels, which can be found in both small towns and major cities like London, Tokyo, and New York. I love the Hyatt Place brand for its consistency and the large, comfortable rooms and will even seek them out over some other full service options.
You’ll earn double points at the majority of other World of Hyatt properties including Park Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Centric, and SLH. Remember that double and triple points for this promotion apply only to the base points earned on the stay. All properties earn 5 base points per dollar, so this means you could be earning double (10 points/dollar) or triple (15 points/dollar) in addition to any points you might earn for elite status or using your World of Hyatt credit card.
One downside to the promotion is that bonus points are only earned beginning with your second stay. If you have an expensive trip coming up, it might be worth making a cheap mileage run at a Hyatt Place nearby to get the first stay out of the way.
Who would have thought that Hyatt would one day crack four digits? It’s always been a small — but rewarding — program, especially its luxury brands. In the past the issue was not enough properties in cities where Hilton and Marriott compete. Now some of these boutique hotels are among the few points redemptions available in some pretty impressive locations. At least they’re playing to their strength.
