If you follow me on Twitter or read my blog, you are probably already aware that I am on my nearly 30,000 mile trip around the world which includes stops in North America, South America, Europe and Asia. In the last 4 days I have visited major airports in the USA, Mexico,South America, and Europe and I find that despite all the hype US media sensationalist news has made about Ebola, the only airport I’ve passed through with Ebola warnings was Mexico D.F.
In Mexico, each traveler was handed an Ebola warning message while landing, but no additional screening was necessary for passengers. Meanwhile, in Miami, Sao Paulo and Paris, not only was there no screening there was no warnings.
Now I know that none of these airports are located in countries fighting the Ebola epidemic, yet one would think that with all the fuss US news sources are making about Ebola screanings at select airports, other countries major airports would have some type of screaning procedures in place too. Yet then again, it just goes to show you how much our news is based on entertainment and scare factors instead of fact based reporting. This just makes me glad I tend to look outside the US for reliable news sources.
Now back to my vacation!
