Marriott Rewards has been offering various promotions offering free rewards points for activity on social media. More details of these offers are covered by Caroline in her post from a few weeks ago. As many as 45,000 Marriott Rewards points can be earned per year with the #RewardsPoints program.
Easy Marriott Rewards points for a tweet
I’m all for free (and easy) points, although I didn’t really try too hard with this promotion. I’m not sure what motivated me to get on board, but part of it was how easy it was. For a time, points were to be had by something as simple as a tweet with a few hashtags. A daily tweet with those hashtags earns 50 Marriott points. Easy, right? Unfortunately, it seems that some of these promotions might be scaled back somewhat, if not stopped altogether. After multiple days of success, a few days ago, I went through my routine copy/pasting a tweet to Marriott for 50 points, but instead of an automatic reply talking about the points I earned, I got the following:
In addition to the daily 50 points being offered, there were various other promotions as well, including 1000 rewards points a few times for answering trivia during NFL games on Sunday. Easy as can be. But like many deals, the good ones never seem to last…
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but good deals going away seems to happen all the time. Read more: Is the US Mobile Deal Dead?
Can I still get free Marriott Rewards points on Twitter?
While working on this post, I noticed another data point from the guys at Doctor of Credit. They note some references to a max of 2000 points per year earned via social media. A big drop from 45,000. Hopefully this won’t be the case.
There are still various promotions available to earn Marriott Rewards points, but at least for now, the easy ones appear to be gone.
Did you take advantage of these promotions while they were available?
