Mostly Good News So Far for the Amex Signups

I just wanted to provide everyone with a quick update regarding the recent 100K Amex Platinum and 50K Premier Rewards Gold signups. I know a lot of people (including myself) are having a little anxiety in wondering whether or not they will get the points, but so far there has been mostly good news from people reporting on FlyerTalk.

Note that the only discrepancy is whether or not the outstanding balance has to be paid off after meeting minimum spend. Most say it does not have to be paid, some say otherwise.

  • People who met all Terms and Conditions are receiving the bonus after meeting minimum spend and after their charges moved from pending to posted. Bonus points post within 3 days of this happening.
  • People that signed up for BOTH the Platinum and Premier Rewards Gold cards are getting bonuses for both cards (100K + 50K).
  • If you already had the Mercedes Benz Platinum card, you will (according to reports) get the 100K bonus for the new card.
  • If you had a Business Gold or Platinum card, you still get the bonus for personal versions of the card.

The question that’s still unanswered, and the one I’m most interested in since it applies to me, is whether or not people get the 100K bonus if they already owned the Premier Rewards Gold card. I’ve since cancelled the card, but am hoping to slip through the cracks like many others are. I’ll definitely report back when I know!

I
I’m praying that 100K pops up here soon!

If you’re wondering how to know whether you received the bonus or not, log in to your Amex account and then click on “Rewards” at the top, then “Point Summary” and then the “Activity Detail” tab. Hopefully your points will show up soon!

  1. Thanks for sharing the deal initially! AMEX confirmed via SM that both Platinum and Gold applications will get the bonus. I already see the bonus points pending for the Gold card (second signup).

          1. Yeah I wasn’t sure if cancelling the PRG would affect it at all, but wanted to cancel the card anyway so figured it was worth a shot. And believe me…no one’s hoping for good news about the affiliate $ more than me haha. Still have no idea if any is coming my way or not!

  2. I’ve not had the card previously and my points are “pending” as of today (50,000)….however they did hit my husband and I (2 diff. cards) with a hefty $175 annual fee…called, they say I’m eligible for the waived fee but wanted to know where I got that offer. I’m really hoping to see that credited soon.
