Singapore Airlines is adding another “first” to their list of accomplishments. They were the first to fly the Airbus A380, first to offer a “double bed” in the sky, first to fly non-stop from Singapore to the United States and now, they will be the first to offer premium cabin passengers amenity kits featuring . . . laundry detergent? Yup, that’s right. Laundry detergent. First in class fabric care will now take flight at 35,000 feet with Singapore Airlines’ new Laundress amenity kits.
To celebrate their 70th anniversary, Singapore Airlines partnered with New York based, The Laundress, to supply their brand new amenity kits for Suites, First and Business Class passengers. The new top zip kits will feature eco-friendly, fabric care products to freshen clothing and remove wrinkles and stains associated with long-haul travel.
The new kits will come in Raiders colors two colors, black and silver, and feature:
- The Laundress Crease Release: removes moderate wrinkles from clothing and fabrics, perfect for passengers while on-the-go. Retails for $8.00.
- The Laundress Fabric Fresh Classic: contains antibacterial properties that add scent while removing odor from its source, freshening clothing when traveling. Retails for $8.00.
- The Laundress Wash & Stain Bar: cleans hard-to-reach spaces, spot treats stains, and can be used for liquid-free handwashing on-the-go. Retails for $6.00.
As much as I love a good amenity kit with quality lip balm and facial moisturizer, I think these Singapore Airlines Laundress amenity kits actually make sense. For business travelers or those “on the go” right after a long-haul flight, being able to freshen up, spot clean food stains and remove wrinkles will be a welcomed addition. These new Laundress kits will be in addition to the amenity kits already provided to Suites and First Class passengers. Business Class passengers do not currently receive an amenity kit.
Overall, I’m impressed with this new offering. These new kits will compliment Singapore Airlines’ current Ferragamo amenity kits for First and Suites Class passengers and provide Business Class passengers with a unique parting gift to remember their flight by. These kits have already been introduced on selected flights and will roll out network-wide in September 2017.
