NEXUS members no longer need to complete a paper customs form when arriving into an airport with NEXUS kiosks as of May 16, 2017. This is an update to the memo from March announcing phasing out of declaration forms. The earlier announcement mentions the fact that the process for customs clearance is changing at Canadian airports. This process is rolling out all over Canada.
This new change to the passport controls process means no more Canadian customs forms for NEXUS is an additional improvement for NEXUS members. It covers any airport with NEXUS self-service kiosks even if paper forms are still required for other travelers. Here is a summary from an email about this from the Canadian Border Services Agency:
Updated Rules Regarding Canadian Customs Forms for NEXUS
Dear NEXUS Member,
We have more exciting news to share with our members!
Further to the message we issued below, we are pleased to announce that NEXUS members no longer need to complete a paper CBSA Declaration Card (Form E311) when using a NEXUS self-serve kiosk at any Canadian airport where NEXUS is available.
Note that paper CBSA Declarations Cards may still be handed out in-flight, as travellers who are not NEXUS members may need to complete them.
Where Is NEXUS Available?
- Halifax Robert L. Stanfield International Airport
- Montréal Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport
- Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport
- Toronto Pearson International Airport
- Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport
- Calgary International Airport
- Edmonton International Airport
- Vancouver International Airport
In addition, please note that a NEXUS kiosk is also available at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, for incoming flights only.
Bottom Line
NEXUS is a huge help to save time when entering Canada. This announcement means more good news and another nice feature for NEXUS card holders when arriving into Canada. No more customs forms upon entry into Canada to go along with no forms required when entering the United States.
