After nearly a year since this trip was booked; my wife and I are off on our anniversary trip to Southeast Asia and the Maldives on Singapore Airlines.

I’m not one to have a ‘bucket list’ per se, but Singapore Airlines has always had an intrigue. It is often listed as the ‘World’s Best Airline’, and the fact that is somewhat difficult to obtain seats in their premium cabins really builds the excitement.
Our trip was booked in the summer of 2012 during that brief window when Singapore award space was open to partners. I have a hard time planning ahead so far, but I knew I couldn’t pass up this chance. Without talking to my wife, I booked this trip, banking on the fact that it was our wedding anniversary, and we can usually get away this time of year. Thankfully, the dates worked, and they are finally here!
I am skilled at finding good deals, or exciting in flight products, but my wife is much better at actually arranging activities, and finding good destinations once we are there. I guess that makes us a good team. On this trip, I did more of the planning, and after originally just booking flights to Singapore, I added the Maldives as a destination. This is somewhat of a difficult place to get to, although more options are making that easier. Hopefully this won’t be the only time we visit here, but a destination like this has ‘trip of a lifetime’ written all over it.
We are flying Singapore First Class on the 777-300ER (no, not, suites, but I’m sure we’ll survive) from San Francisco to Singapore. We will have a few days there, I mostly cleaned out my Hilton balance before the devaluation and are staying at the Conrad Centennial. Then are going to Kuala Lumpur before returning to Singapore to catch our flight to Male. Then we are staying at the Park Hyatt Maldives for a week.
I’m planning to have posts that I already wrote go up while I’m away, but I’ll update my social media feeds while able while en route and of course a full trip report will follow.
