Qatar Airways Regional Business Class from Luxor to Doha does regional service right. After a fantastic trip through Cairo and a Nile River Cruise, sadly my trip was coming to an end and I had to head home. Yet as part of the entire purpose of the trip to Egypt, I was now flying back on Qatar Airways and on my first paid business class ticket. Yet for only $1000 in Business, I didn’t feel bad about splurging for the one way ticket. After all, year over year, Qatar Airways has been voted World’s best business class!
The Luxor airport is less than exciting with no lounges and limited shopping and dining options. I would advise arriving only early enough to catch your flight, but not hours before hand as there is no airport wifi and you will be stuck staring at the wall or reading a good book.

Boarding was slightly delayed due to a delay of the inbound aircraft. Once boarding began, I never heard any particular boarding group called. When my brother and I approached the podium, the agent told us to have a seat as we would board last. After nearly every passenger was boarded, I approached the agent again. He assured me that he would board us after every passenger boarded but they were still waiting on a few more people.
Another 10 minutes passed and then he called business class passengers, there was 3 of us in total. He scanned our boarding passes and welcomed us aboard. The plane was using a remote stand and there was three busing waiting on the apron. The first two buses were packed to the brim with passengers and the very last bus was completely empty. This bus was reserved for us, business class passengers only! The buses left in unison and when we arrived at the plane, the two economy class buses released their passengers first and then once they were finished boarding our bus’ doors open and we boarded the plane.

Upon boarding, there were two flight attendants eager to greet us and show to our seats and help store our luggage. As the three rows of business class seats were recliner style seats typically found on transatlantic equipped 757 from the 90s and 2000s, there was no under seat storage. We took our books from our bags and stored the rest above. Meanwhile, another flight attendant greeted us with our choice of very refreshing lemon mint juice, orange juice, or water and then asked us if we would like a drink to follow. We both opted for the Billecart-Salmon champagne, which the FA refilled twice before take off! The FA then told us our menus were in the seatback pocket and returned shortly after to take our inflight drink and lunch orders.
Service on the 2.5 hour flight could not have been outdone. The entire time every passenger was greeted by name and service was presented as if you were dining in a high-end restaurant. Not an airplane. Even subtle touches such as drinks, including champagne was poured at the seat, never in the galley with white towel service! Qatar really knows what they are doing!
Shortly after takeoff we were brought our drink orders and warm mix nuts and a delicious lunch spread shortly followed. Throughout the entire meal service our water and wine cups never were less than half empty and the FAs check out us nearly every 5-10 minutes. Unlike the Etihad flight from Abu Dhabi to Cairo, these FA were on their A game and ensured that we were comfortable and well hydrated! The food was delicious, and for only a 2.5 hour flight I was very impressed with the quality and service!
The seat the Qatar Airways A320 were more than adequate for the short 2.5 hour flight. I wouldn’t want to fly it long haul! Each seat had individual headphones, a decent recline with foot rest and a pillow and blanket. There were no person IFE on this plane.
Seat controls are easy to use.
The seat in the recline rest position. There is plenty of space to rest on short hops.
Noise cancelling headphones are provided for the overhead entertainment. Bathrooms were equipped with Ritual body mist and lotion along with individually packed shavers and shaving cream
Before landing each first class customer was is given with a chocolate bar.
The Qatar Airways flight was a great introduction to the airlines and I was very much impressed with the food, the seat, and the attentiveness of the staff! After this flight, I was more than excited for my connecting flight to Paris on the A380!
