The Air France Lounge at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) is located airside in Terminal 5. After security, make a right hand turn towards gate M7. The Air France Lounge is open from 8:15 AM till at least 10:00 PM daily. On Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the lounge is open until midnight for the last EVA Air flight. The Air France Lounge Chicago O’Hare is accessible by premium cabin passengers flying on Air France/KLM, SkyTeam partner airlines and contract airlines such as Etihad, EVA Air, Icelandair, Air India, LOT Polish, Qatar and others. The Air France Lounge Chicago O’Hare is also a contract lounge for Priority Pass and DragonPass members.
Now, before I review this lounge, I should preface by saying all the international airline lounges at Chicago O’hare’s terminal 5 are pretty sub-par. It doesn’t matter if it’s the Air France Lounge, SAS Lounge or even the SWISS Lounge, they are all small, crowded and lacking in amenities. I have no idea why this is. But none of them seem to have any hot food options or basic amenities such as bathrooms, much less showers suites or day rooms. It baffles me that Chicago O’hare can’t get a decent international lounge other than the United Polaris Lounge.
The Air France Lounge Chicago O’Hare is small and simple yet has some redeeming qualities that I appreciated. The lounge is just one long room with leather armchairs and tables grouped together in small clusters. The large windows of the lounge let in a lot of natural lighting and have some impressive views of both the ramp and runway.
For food, the self-serve buffet station had a selection of quality sandwiches, boxed meals, hot soup and other snacks. The food spread was really tasty with a good mix of both sandwiches, pastas and vegan boxes with hummus, beans, tabbouleh and pita. Unfortunately, the only hot items were cup-o-noodles, packaged oatmeal and a single soup bowl.
For alcohol, there was a small but top shelf selection of spirits, wines and beers.
Other drinks include various sodas, juices and an espresso machine.
There is no dedicated business center but there is a table with dividers located in the back of the lounge if you need desk space. However, no desktop PCs or printers are provided. Password protected WiFi is provided throughout the lounge so you can work from anywhere. There are no showers suites, sleep rooms or restrooms located inside so you will have to exit the lounge to use the restroom.
Air France Lounge Chicago O’HJare Bottom Line
Overall, the Air France Lounge Chicago O’Hare is not a bad place to kill a couple of hours before your flight. The space is small and lacking in amenities but the cold food options and alcohol selection are decent. This is not a lounge I would ever show up at the airport early to experience, nor would I ever go out of my way to visit from another terminal, but it’s not bad if you’re departing from Terminal 5. Like I said earlier, there’s nothing special here so don’t expect too much from this lounge (or any other lounge from Terminal 5 for that matter) but it still beats waiting around at the gate with everyone else.
