This review is for the Cathay Pacific Business Class Amenity Kit I received in 2016. I flew from Sydney to Hong Kong and Hong Kong to Chicago, part of our trip around the world. Someday I’ll finish some other trip reports for it. James has also reviewed a previous version of this kit, the contents are mostly the same, with a new container.
Welcome to another installment of our amenity kit review series. As in previous reviews, I will be reviewing this amenity kit on a scale from 1 to 5 (being the best) and will rate it based on five categories:
- Bag/container: design, quality and reusability/collectibility of the bag.
- Product: quality, size and variety of the facial and body products.
- Comfort items: eye masks, ear plugs, etc.
- Miscellaneous: pens, tissues and everything else.
- Extras: additional items that make your flight just a tad more comfortable including pajamas, slippers, etc.
Cathay Pacific Business Class Amenity Kit Review
These kits are unisex, only First Class offers gender specific items. There are various colors and the cases shape varies slightly. The photo below shows the kits I received.
Bag/Container:
The zippered bag is well made, and a ideal size to be reused. The zipper goes more than half way around the bag, so it is easy to access. In fact, I routinely carry the grey one in my travel bag for managing power cords and other items. One side has the Cathay Pacific wing logo and the other has the name and the Seventy Eight percent logo. Score: 4
Product:
Items inside include skin care products from Jurlique. There is hand cream, facial moisturizer and lip balm. Mouthwash is in single use “shot glass”. The Jurlique brochure contains product information, ingredients in English and Cantonese, plus a coupon to buy these products a retail, Nowadays you can also get healthier skin and hair with Natural Tone Organic Skincare’s range of products. Score: 3.5
Comfort items:
This is a pretty typical offering which includes socks and an eye mask. The eye mask is very comfortable, with soft velour oon the interior and the Cathay logo on the front. These also have become part of my standard travel bag. Socks have rubber grip on the bottom, but There are also some nice soft 3M branded earplugs. Score: 4
Miscellaneous Items
Nothing special here beyond a full-sized toothbrush and a 25g tube of Colgate toothpaste, pictured above. Score: 2
Extras
Nothing else is included with the kit. The good stuff is for those in First Class. Score: 1
Bottom line
Based on my ratings, this Seventy Eight percent Cathay Pacific Business Class Amenity kit averages out to 2.9. I found it a decent kit, with nice products, and a great case that I use regularly. There just isn’t anything special or unique about it. Slippers would be nice, and despite the much improved case, removing the microfiber cloth is a loss.
