The Reichshof Hamburg is a great hotel situated in the very heart of central Hamburg. Located right across the street from Hamburg Central Station (Hbf), the Reichshof Hamburg is a convenient base for exploring the beautiful sights, sounds and culture of this amazing city. The Reichshof Hamburg was originally built in 1910 as the “Hamburger Traditional Hotel.” It was completely renovated in 2015 and is now part of the Curio Collection of Hilton Hotels.
My friends and I recently stayed here for three days and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is located within walking distance to numerous shops, bars and restaurants and the central location allowed us to walk, bus and taxi our way to all of Hamburg’s best attractions with ease. You won’t need a car here but if you have one, self-parking will cost you 15 Euros per day. If you are planning on taking the Hamburg city hop on/hop off bus tour (highly recommended), the pick up/drop off point is located across the street at Hamburg Central Station.
The Reichshof Hamburg is just beautiful. The hotel is located in a historic building and the interior features Art Deco design themes. With its marble walls, rich leather and elegant light fixtures, the hotel felt chic, classy and reminiscent of 1920’s Hollywood glamour.
On this trip, I booked a standard king bed room and was “upgraded” to an enhanced room on the 6th floor. The room was modestly decorated but spacious enough for us to use as a meeting point for 4 people. The room was furnished with a king size bed, sitting area and small desk. The views weren’t much and the room was fairly basic but it was clean, comfortable and furnished with everything we needed.
Room amenities included an iron/ironing board, Bosch coffee maker with a selection of instant coffee and teas, in-room safe and bathrobes.
This little tablet is pretty cool. Instead of having a hotel information folder, all the information is pre-loaded onto this tablet. You can use it to explore the hotel and surrounding areas or just surf the internet.
Like the rest of the room, the enclosed bathroom was minimally decorated but spacious. The walk-in shower felt fantastic after a long day of exploring the city and the towel warmer felt great afterwards. Noir branded bath and body products were provided for our use.
Other hotel amenities included a business center located on the lobby floor. The large business center was convenient but was not the most quiet as it opened up to the main lobby area. Desktop computers and a printer were provided for guests’ use.
There is a restaurant, bar and market pantry located on the main floor as well. The market pantry had a small selection of quick “grab and go” food and drink items and the bar was fully stocked with a variety of house and top shelf beers, spirits and wines. We had a few drinks here every night and it was a nice place to just chill and relax with your friends.
For Hilton Honors Gold and Diamond members, complimentary breakfast is provided in the hotel restaurant with a phenomenal selection of hot and cold dishes, vegan options and an omelet station.
There are no pools or Jacuzzis located on-site but the hotel does have a fitness center and spa facility. The fitness center is located in the basement with a very basic set of cardio and strength equipment. Don’t expect to get a full workout here but surprisingly, it was never crowded during any of my visits. There is a steam room and sauna located in the spa facility for your use but you can only access them when the spa facility is open.
Reichshof Hamburg Overall Thoughts
Overall, we had a great experience at the Reichshof Hamburg and would recommend it to anyone. The hotel was beautiful decorated and felt warm and welcoming. The rooms were clean, comfortable and modern and the central location was perfect for exploring Hamburg City. If you want to explore all of Hamburg’s cuisine and local attractions but don’t want the hassle of renting a vehicle, the convenient location of the Reichshof Hamburg will be perfect for you.
