Layovers in Singapore’s Changi airport are really not that bad at all. They have a nice airport hotel, within the terminal, if you want a place to sleep comfortably. They also have plenty of 24 hour lounges, lots of good food and shopping, a butterfly sanctuary, an amazing slide for kids, and all kinds of other things to explore. You can also rate the toilets and cleaning staff on a touch-screen monitor when leaving the restroom.
But after getting off my LAX-NRT-SIN flight, I just wanted to head to the lounge and relax for a bit. Everything in this airport is well marked and mapped, so finding the lounge was no problem. I received access to this lounge because I was flying on a Business Class ticket (my route was LAX-NRT-SIN-BKK), which I booked using Avianca LifeMiles.
This lounge is really big with plenty of seating, plenty of food options, and spa-like bathrooms including showers. There are separate areas for Business and First Class passengers. My next flight was SIN-BKK on Singapore’s regional Business Class, so I made a left turn to the Business Lounge. Note that this is also the lounge that Star Alliance Gold members have access to.
It was the middle of the night when we got there so although there were some decent food options, none of them were fresh. I grabbed a few snacks to tide me over a bit since I was hungry after sleeping the entire flight from Tokyo to Singapore.
The lounge has good WiFi speed and a decent amount of power ports, but when the lounge fills up it may be tough to find a place to plug in.
I didn’t take a shower, but if I did the best time to do so would have been right when I got there around 3am. The lounge was very empty (as you can tell by my pictures) and there would have been no issue that early, but after a couple of hours the amount of people in the lounge increased substantially. The shower rooms also contained a sink and toiletries so you can freshen up. The bathroom setup actually reminded me of The Bathhouse Spa at THEHotel in Las Vegas (now re-branded as Delano Las Vegas).
As the night became morning, the food options started to expand. The lounge workers there brought out dish after dish of both Western and Asian foods, and the drinks are always available. I tried a few different things before I was satisfied, then just relaxed until it was time to head to my flight to Bangkok. The food options were rather bland and uninteresting in my opinion, which is about par for the course in most Business Class Lounges.
I’d say this lounge is above average but not amazing. It’s functional, which is what you really need a lounge to be. You’ll get your food, drinks, and showers and a comfortable place to sit as long as your flight arrives before the morning rush! By the time I left, the lounge was a bit of a zoo with people all over the place and it was tough to find an open spot. It’s a huge lounge so there’s plenty of seating, but it got full and noisy in a hurry!
I dont know what you would consider as amazing or above and beyond, but this lounge is at the 98% if you have to grade lounges around the world.
I think we can agree that most First Class lounges are better. On the Business Class side, Turkish, Star Alliance at LAX, Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse, The Loft at LAX, and Asiana Business Lounge in ICN come to mind. It’s still a nice lounge, just the food options were mediocre and it got very crowded and noisy.

I have to agree with you. The SilverKris is indeed one of the best lounges in the world. Certainly top 20.
