British Airways website is usually fantastic for searching for OneWorld airlines award space. Oneworld partners such as Qatar, LAN, Royal Jordanian, JAL, Cathay Pacific, Malaysia Airlines and more can all be found on British Airways website. This is extremely helpful when searching for award trips, as American Airlines website shows only a handful a partners and not all partners like those listed above with the exception of Royal Jordanian. Yet recently, I have discovered that British Airways website is no longer displaying Royal Jordanian award space, making booking short haul intra-Middle East travel more difficult.
The lack of Royal Jordanian award space on BA website is not a deal breaker, because if BA is not showing the award space I can search AA’s website to find space and then call BA to book the space over the phone. Yet today when I tried to do that, several agents could not find any Royal Jordanian award space on any route! Meaning my 10,000 mile award trip would cost me 17,500 if I opted to book with AA miles va BA miles.
To further complicate the issue, I decided to look for award space on Qantas’ website as the dates I truly wanted to fly were not showing available on AA.com but expertflyer displayed “X” space available. Lo and behold, Qantas showed the space as bookable! I then called up AA to have them look at the date/route I wanted and sure enough they were able to book it, despite it not being bookable on BA.com or over the phone with British Airways.
I am not sure why British Airways is having difficulties accessing Royal Jordanian’s award seats, but I hope they fix this sooner than later! In the meantime, for any of your award bookings need, check out the Booking Guru.
