Silvercar plans to expand to new markets after receiving $28 million in Series C financing. This round was led by Audi, the manufacturer of Silvercar’s homogenous A4 fleet, and is its largest capital increase to-date.
I don’t always rent a car. But when I do, it’s a Silvercar. 😉 By offering just one model, Silvercar is able to provide a more luxurious offering while keeping its operating costs down. I’ve found in the past that Silvercar’s rates are often comparable to or lower than standard full size rentals from other firms, let alone competing luxury car rentals. I also appreciate the low refueling fee and the included GPS. (Satellite radio and mobile WiFi aren’t as important, but they matter to others.)
There were rumors over a year ago that Silvercar would be expanding into the Seattle market where I live. Now it seems more likely to happen. I sold my car years ago, but I’d gladly make the hour-long commute to the airport to pick up a Silvercar for a weekend road trip.
