Silvercar has had some great promotions this year, offering rates of just $59 in January and $49 in April. Now they’ve lowered rates even further to $39 during the month of May — although it’s exclusive to the Phoenix and Miami markets.
As a refresher, Silvercar is a premium outfit that only rents Audi A4 sedans. But because they keep a homogenous fleet and process all the paperwork through your mobile phone they can keep costs low. I’ve found they’re often competitive with other companies, but you get a better car and a (sometimes) lower price. Other locations are in Austin, Dallas, Denver, Ft. Lauderdale, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
Save $25 to $50 on Silvercar
To make the experience even better, Silvercar is offering everyone the chance to save $50 on their next two-day rental with the promotion code FTU50. It’s good through December 31, 2015 and is valid for new and existing customers. But if you’re a new customer, I recommend you take advantage of their referral program first — then use the $50 discount later this year. Find a friend who already uses Silvercar and you’ll both save $25. My own referral code is SMACKENZIE; feel free to share yours in the comments.
But What If an Audi A4 Isn’t Enough?
Chris McGinnis on Travel Skills shares that Audi is launching its own on-demand rental service within San Francisco city limits. You can hire a car from your phone and have it delivered to your home, or you can pick it up at a designated location. I wouldn’t use it to rent an A4, which appears to be twice as expensive or more compared to Silvercar. But you do have the option of renting other vehicle models such as the Audi R8 sportscar — for over $1,000 a day.
More sensible minds can rent an SUV for that family vacation to Lake Tahoe. Audi says they plan to eventually roll out to additional cities, although I expect it to remain focused in wealthy neighborhoods.
