Southwest Airlines is turning 50 and in celebration they are throwing a party! To start, Southwest Airlines has formally registered their anniversary as Wanna get away day. Get ready to celebrate the day on June 18th. The day is now registered with the national calendar as Wanna Get Away day. In addition to making it a national holiday, Southwest is helping people get away via a daily sweepstake.
It’s our 50th Anniversary and we are ready to celebrate and thank our Customers,” said Bill Tierney, Southwest Airlines Vice President of Marketing. “In true Southwest Spirit, we are turning our 50th Anniversary into Wanna Get Away Day, allowing Customers the opportunity to celebrate our 50-year history of Heart, low-fares, legendary Hospitality, and flexible policies by giving them opportunities to turn ‘Wanna get away’ into ‘Gonna’ get away.”
In celebration of Southwest’s 50th Anniversary, the carrier is giving customers the chance to win a total of 50 million Rapid Rewards bonus points. The sweepstakes runs June 1, 2021, through June 18, 2021. To join in the fun, visit Southwest50.com/WannaGetAway and click on the three suitcases. Log in daily for more chances to win. Prizes include Rapid Rewards bonus points, Southwest gift cards, and Companion Passes. Thus far I’ve only won 50 Rapid Rewards points, but I’m hoping for more!
The party goes beyond the sweepstake. There will be over 24 popup photo locations across the country and swag giveaways at both gates and inflight. Starting June 1, Southwest will have pop-up photo opportunities and Heart Carts full of swag and fun giveaways in more than 40 of its locations. And who can forget Southwest’s famous gate games featuring its amazing Employees? The fun doesn’t stop at the gate—Southwest’s Inflight Crews will be surprising and delighting Customers with additional swag on June 18.
Finally, Southwest is celebrating with more retro merchandise. You can get a reto Hostess Build-A-Bear exclusively at Southwest: The Store.
