Starwood Preferred Guest regularly offers promotions through its Dashboard portal, which you can visit to see more information about global promotions, targeted offers, and redemption opportunities. However, some members are getting offers today for double elite qualifying credit to earn elite status faster.

One Mile at a Time reports that he also got the offer, which is valid for stays from August 15 through November 15. Registration is required before you stay, and existing reservations are not eligible. So, make sure you check to see if you’re eligible and possibly rebook any upcoming trips if you have a flexible rate.
Some people got different offers. The Points Guy reports a chance to earn a total of 6,000 points on the next six stays (2,000 points every other stay). This seems much less generous but still worth something. I usually value Starpoints at about 2.5 cents each, making this offer potentially worth $150.
I’m not targeted for either offer, which isn’t surprising since I haven’t been staying at Starwood hotels very often this year. Then again, maybe the lack of incentive is why I haven’t been staying at Starwood hotels… 😉
