Once in awhile, an airline comes out with a new product that gets me totally excited and this week, JetBlue’s new “front of the cabin” product launch got me as giddy as a kid in a candy store. In case you missed it, JetBlue’s new premium cabin experience, called “Mint,” started flying the JFK-LAX route this week and will debut the JFK-SFO route in late October.
It looks like an amazing product and I can’t wait to try it out. Mint offers 12 complete lie-flat seats, four enclosed suites, Birchbox amenities kits, an upgraded menu curated by New York’s famed Saxon + Parole and all the premium cabin perks such as expedited check-in, security and boarding. But the goodies don’t stop there. All A321s passengers will benefit from the free WiFi onboard, bigger, personal monitors with an expanded selection of Direct TV, movies and XM radio entertainment and electrical outlets at every seat (two outlets at every Mint seat and one outlet at every economy seat).
If you’re looking to experience Mint, you’re in luck. The prices are very reasonable and start as low as $599 each way. Currently, there is no upcharge for the single suites. I would imagine those will sell at a higher premium at a later date but as of right now, you can fly like a king for a tad bit more than what a coach seat will cost you on any of the other carriers such as American, Delta or United.
The double seats are 20 inches in width and the single seats are a bit wider with 22 inches of width. Both seats stretch out to 80 inches in length (6’8”). They are staggered with the single seats located in rows two and four. Seth from the Wandering Aramean recently wrote up his experience on the inaugural Mint flight. You can read the trip report here.
To celebrate the new Mint product, JetBlue held a launch party at The Grove in Los Angeles this past weekend. The launch party was fantastic and featured a full mock-up of the Mint seats, tasting menu, drinks and giveaways. I was lucky enough to attend and walked away with my very own Birchbox amenity kit (men’s) and one of my lucky readers will be lucky enough to win it.
If have been following me, then you know that I’m an amenity kit geek. I love them, love to get them, love to re-use them and love to give them out as gifts. I’m slowly growing my amenity kit collection and will soon start an amenity kit review series for the blog. Stay tuned!
But in the meantime, just comment below and tell me what your favorite amenity kit is. I’ll pick a winner next week and your Birchbox kit will be mailed out the following week.
Thanks for reading!
