Plan Your Svalbard Cruise
Do not delay and start your 2025 summer cruise planning now. I went to Svalbard in July 2023 and it will remain one of my favorite trips every. It’s VERY different than Antarctica and is somewhere everyone should visit. In fact, the Arctic is melting MUCH faster than Antarctica. With that in mid you should go to the Arctic before climate change makes it more difficult to see Walrus and Polar bears in the wild.
Svalbard trips on Swan Hellenic offer two primary routes. The first option is where you fly in and out of Svalbard for as low as $4,830 per person. These trips actually begin and end in Copenhagen with included charter flights to Svalbard. The route is 100% dependent on weather, animal sightings and in expedition mode the entire trip. These are for the true explorers!
If you want a more of a routine or 3/4 expedition and 1/4 cruise you can do a round trip from Tromso, Norway. These trips also include a pre-cruise hotel night in Tromsø, Norway. And Tromsø has a large enough airport you can often make an easy connection to London, Paris, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, etc. Plus you can check out one of the largest cities above the Arctic circle. These trips are 10 days and are on sale for just $6,900 per person
I did a trip from Tromso and loved it. Plus these trips include a stop at Bear Island, a bird refugee full of puffins, skewers, and other sea birds, plus visits the northern coast of Norway allowing you to visit Northcape and Skrsvag and experience some of Norway’s grand Fjords. When in Svalbard your trip will be expedition mode. The other days will be a mixture of expedition and more traditional cruising.
