Delta Air lines and Alaska Airlines are competing to win over Seattle flyers with more flights to more destinations. As Delta and Alaska have gone from aligned partners to enemies the battle for Seattle continues throughout the pandemic recovery. Now, Delta is giving away free flights from Seattle. Trying to lure customers in from Alaska Airlines.
The battle over West coast and Alaska market share is intensifying. In recent days Alaska Airlines has announced new direct service between Anchorage and Delta’s Minnesota hub. This was only retaliatory and will hardly make a difference as it is only two weekly flights. Delta will have three daily summer flights between MSP and ANC. Delta is also hosting an army of flights to and from Alaska this summer. Which includes 7 daily flights between Anchorage and Seattle, along of several seasonal destinations including Sitka, Juneau, and other Alaska destinations.
In order to help promote travel and to bring customers back, Delta is giving Seattle area residents $100 in no string attached air fare. Emails went out to Skymile members on Thursday March 19 announcing the $100 discounts. Check your emails for an email with the subject of “NAME, Here’s $100 To Explore From Your Friends At Delta”.
