United Airlines sent another round of targeted promotions in the email today, so be sure to check your spam folders. I am the proud recipient of double miles on all travel from April 1 through June 30. I don’t plan to fly during that time, but fortunately I also get to choose between two day passes to the United Club or one Regional Premier Upgrade. I’m inclined to pick the upgrade and give it away to readers since the club passes will be tied to my account using the mobile app.
Others are reporting different offers, so here’s the rundown as far as I can tell:
Double Award Miles, Plus One Upgrade or Two Club Passes
- Register by April 30
- Book travel by June 30
- Fly between April 1 and June 30
- Double award miles for travel on qualifying fares in F, A, J, C, D, Z, P, Y, B, M, E, and U
- Choice between two United Club day passes or one Regional Premier Upgrade
Triple Award Miles
- Register by April 30
- Book travel by June 30
- Fly between April 1 and June 30
- Triple award miles for travel on qualifying fares in F, A, J, C, D, Z, P, Y, B, M, E, and U
Reminder to Use Fare Lock
- Yay! You can lock in your fare for a few bucks and book on another date. 😛
Recall that United previously offered some customers several upgrades and even bonus Premier Qualifying Miles. My guess is those were meant to appeal to people who earn a lot of Premier Qualifying Dollars but might still find themselves short on the other criteria for elite status at the end of the year.
I’m not sure what United’s motivation is for the current promotion other than running an A/B experiment. Attracting customers who haven’t booked in a while? I’ve seen some of that reported on FlyerTalk, but there are also some people who got these offers and are still active customers.
