It has been another great travel year for me. I’ve finished the year up with over 150,000 miles on United and about 20,000 or so on Alaska. Thanks to both airlines for treating me so well this year and making my travel life easier on me. United, especially, has done a great job this year. Not only have most of my upgrades cleared, but all of the “enhancements” they announced this year actually WERE enhancements. I can only think of two or three really bad delays or cancellations this year that messed up my schedule, and considering how much I fly, I think that’s great.
Moving onto hotels, big thanks to both Marriott and Starwood. This is my fifth consecutive year as a Marriott platinum, and I’m certain I’ll get it again next year. Thanks to their Premier credit card getting you one elite night per $3k spend, it was a piece of cake to get it this year. Add rollover nights into the mix, and next year will be even easier. With platinum qualification being easy, it allowed me to branch out and start staying at SPG properties. I hit SPG Gold this year, and next year I’m going to go for the Platinum. I’ve really enjoyed staying at a second chain, and my favorite SPG hotel this year has been the W Hoboken. Very classy place with fantastic views. Thanks, Marriott and Starwood!
I’m very blessed to have had the opportunity to go to China, India, and Thailand this year. I hope to make it back to Asia once or twice in 2011, and I already know that I’ll be off to Switzerland for a wedding! I love to travel, and 2010 has been a fantastic year for me. I hope everyone else has had similar experiences, and I’m very excited to see what 2011 brings. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year!
