As reported by The Points Guy, United Airlines is offering round-trip tickets between Newark and either Los Angeles or San Francisco for just $246.20 ($123.10 one-way). Fares are available from mid-December through May 2016, so there is plenty of opportunity to take advantage of the sale.
Take a look at this price graph from Hipmunk to see just how many dates are available with these low fares. Although the cheapest departure date–from San Francisco in this case–is going to be Saturday or Sunday, mid-week flights aren’t much more. You can expect to fly round-trip for $300 or less regardless of when you fly.
Remember that Hipmunk will not only help you find the cheapest days to book but also redirects you to United’s own website when it’s time to pay. That ways you don’t have any annoying conflicts between the airline and the travel agency in case there’s a schedule change or cancellation; it’s almost always better to book directly with the airline when possible.
United has a 24-hour cancellation policy for flights within the U.S. that will allow you to change your plans and get a complete refund to your credit card within 24 hours after booking.
Interested in flying business class? United operates it’s p.s. service on this route, which Eric reviewed earlier this year and compared to all the other premium domestic transcon products. Business class has even more availability and is only $1,197 round-trip.
