Working out, and for me especially running is a necessary part of my travel experience for both the physical and mental benefits. Despite being a regular gym-goer, and a frequent traveler, I sometimes realize I didn’t pack properly. On a recent trip, I discovered I forgot my workout clothes. Conveniently, I was staying at a Westin, where they offer a gear lending program in partnership with New Balance.
New Balance Gear Lending at Westin
I called to request some gear, and it was quickly delivered to my room. Very easy. They provide new socks which can be kept, and lightly used, but freshly cleaned shoes, shorts and a t-shirt. The shirt was a size larger than I requested, and the shorts were a size smaller, but both worked fine for temporary use. I did remember to pack my own running shoes, so I didn’t bother renting those from the hotel. There is the nominal cost of $5 for the duration of the stay.

As you may notice, the socks don’t match. But still, for only $5, I find this to be an excellent deal, and it could save me making a shopping trip to buy more stuff, when I have plenty at home. I’ve heard of this promotion before, but this was the first opportunity I had to use it. It worked out very well for my needs. More information on the program available at Westin hotels can be found here.
I’m sure I’m not the only one who discovered a packing snafu in the middle of a trip. I think I have a good packing system that works most of the time, but clearly it isn’t perfect. What items have you forgotten in your travels?
