My wife and I recently booked a Viking River Cruise on the Rhine River from The Netherlands to Switzerland. While I was looking at the ocean cruise side of their website, I stumbled upon the Ultimate World Cruise. One of the topics of blogger posts lately is who has the longest airline flight. If I have my records straight, Singapore Airlines operates the longest flight from Singapore to Newark at 9,534 miles and flight time of 18 hours and 30 minutes. Not to be outdone, Viking Cruises now has the Ultimate World Cruise that weighs in at:
- 245 days which is eight months
- 53 countries
- 6 continents
- 111 cities with guided tours
- Starting price of $92,990
The cruise starts in the UK and visits Scandinavia, the Caribbean, South America, South Pacific, Australia, Asia, The Mediterranean, Europe and back to Greenwich, England. What’s nice about Viking cruises is that shore excursions are included. The night before the next shore excursion, an expert on the excursion will discuss the excursion and answer questions. Viking cruises has no casinos or children (passengers must be at least 18 years old to cruise).
The Ship
The first sailing of this cruise departed Greenwich, England on August 31st. Today, the cruise will be at the Orkny Islands in Scotland. The Ultimate World Cruise sails the Viking Sun, one of the “small ships” class with a capacity of just 930 passengers. The Viking Sun was delivered to Viking cruises in 2017 and is sistership to the Viking Star, Viking Sea, Viking Sky and the Viking Orion. The Viking Sun is 749 feet long, cruises at 17 knots and has 465 passenger cabins.

Booking the Ultimate World Cruise
Viking Cruises website has a link for dates and pricing. Viking apparently doesn’t disclose the next sailing or price categories so you get this message when you click here:
For current fares, please call a Viking Expert: 1-866-984-5464 or Request a Quote today.
For the price, they obviously want to give you the details from a Viking Cruise representative instead of their website.
If you are looking for a cruise that goes around the world in 245 days, this may be what you are looking for.
