Sometime in the next 15 to 45 minutes, Boeing will operate the first test flight of the 737 MAX here in the Pacific Northwest. The clock is counting down to 9:00 AM although weather could impact the actual departure time. You can follow along with a live video stream of the test flight as well as 2D and 3D tracking of the aircraft’s position.
Less noise, more fuel efficiency, and a better passenger cabin are advertised as significant benefits of this new model. Wikipedia lists over 3,000 orders for various 737 MAX types, including 37 from Alaska Airlines, 100 from American Airlines, 100 from United Airlines, and 200 from Southwest Airlines.
The Boeing launch website pops up with a registration screen, but you can close this if you don’t want to sign up for anything. It’s just to receive future communications. You can also learn more about the 737 Max or watch the video below (ETA: video has been removed).
